Valentine's Day for the Homeless

12:06 PM Unknown 131 Comments

Hey guys :)

Valentine’s day is known to take place in one of the coldest months of the year which can be quite burdensome, especially for those living on the streets. We would like to brighten their Valentine’s day by distributing toiletries, and other daily necessities. Together, we can turn their Valentine’s day into a more loving and meaningful one. :)

COLLECTION DATES: February 6th, 2017 - February 10th, 2017

DONATIONS: A few examples of items include small, pocket-sized shampoo, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, facial tissues, hand cream, moist wipes, lip balm, nail clippers, etc. Feel free to donate free hotel toiletries or unused items that can be found at home! (DO NOT BRING FULL-SIZE ITEMS. YOU WILL NOT GET POINTS FOR THOSE!)

NOTE: Homeless people do not have closets. Everything they take with them has to fit in their coat pockets – and they sleep in that bulging coat. Nothing BIG or BULKY please!

ROOM COLLECTION/LABELING: Please place donations in a bag/ziploc bag and place it inside a box labeled “Valentine’s Day for the Homeless” in room 7C1. Remember to have a note in the bag stating your Name, OSIS #, H.O.P.E. and/or Help the Homeless.

We will also be collaborating with Help the Homeless Club in this project. If you are in both clubs, feel free to list both clubs in your note.

POINTS:
  1. H.O.P.E.: 2 item = 5 points (MAX. 20 points)
  2. Help the Homeless: 2 item = 5 points (MAX. 15 points)

Thanks guys <3

Freedom Now Global Art and Awareness Campaign

12:05 PM Unknown 27 Comments

Hey guys!
The Youth Against Child Trafficking Club is partnering with Guria— a non-profit organization that works to eradicate human trafficking and sexual exploitation of women and children— in their Freedom Now Global Art and Awareness Campaign. Through this campaign, they hope to raise awareness for human trafficking and bring justice to survivors.
We are asking students to create art about human trafficking (which can be anything— a painting, drawing, poetry, a short story— let your creativity run free) and submit it to 1W2 by February 16, 2017!
Please remember to write your name, OSIS #, and H.O.P.E. on the back of your artwork. Each piece of art will be worth 10 points. (MAX. 20 points).
Thanks guys!
