We've added a breakdown/clean-up shift from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. to the Brooklyn Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis Walk. Please sign up under the columns for that shift if you would like to help out. 

READ CAREFULLY!

For members who DID NOT sign up for the set-up and festival shift from 7 A.M. to 1 P.M., you will receive 15 points for helping at the breakdown/clean-up shift.

For members who DID sign up for the set-up and festival shift from 7 A.M. to 1 P.M., you CAN sign up for the breakdown/clean-up shift, BUT you will NOT earn extra points for doing so. You WILL, however, earn an extra two community service hours though! Make sure to put "(+Shift 1)" next to your name when you sign up if you want to do the breakdown/clean-up shift along with the set-up and breakdown shift.

Brooklyn Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis Walk

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is dedicated in finding cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, which are both inflammatory bowel diseases. The Brooklyn Take Steps for Crohn's and Colitis Walk will raise awareness and funds to support the research for these diseases. We will set-up for the walk (ex: unload supplies, decorate the area for the festival, etc) and help at the festival (monitor kids' activities such as face painting, distribute food, t-shirts, informational materials, etc).

The Color Run

The Color Run, also known as the Happiest 5k on the Planet is a paint race that promotes healthiness, happiness, and individuality by bringing everyone together. Volunteers will hand out water, rev up the crowd at the finish festival, toss color, and more. Position requests (or what you'll be doing at the event) are on a first-come first-serve basis on the morning of the event.

*Note: Sadly, this event is on the same day as the October SAT so please don't sign up if you have to take the exam.

Better Chinatown will be having their Autumn Moon Festival where volunteers will be needed to wear Mascots of Mickey and Donald Duck, participate in the Lion Dance and Dragon Dance, and help out with popcorn and cotton candy.

PTA Donations + Arts & Crafts Drive

Welcome to H.O.P.E. or Welcome Back to H.O.P.E. !!!

I hope everyone has not been completely overwhelmed by school work yet, since it has only been the third day of school!!  :)

Please keep in mind that we do have two fundraising events which will be ending shortly and the maximum points for both fundraising events are 20 points:
1. PTA DONATION- you can bring in snacks and or refreshments to help us raise money for H.O.P.E. - the items that you bring in will be sold during Tech's September PTA, so please bring your donations in by Thursday September 17, 2015.
2. ARTS AND CRAFTS DRIVE - The children at the Metropolitan Hospital Center will be so excited to receive arts and crafts supplies, so if you can, please take the time to pick up some art supplies and bring it in, your donation will be greatly appreciated. Since we are off from school on the 14th and 15th next week, we will be extending the ARTS AND CRAFTS DRIVE till September 18, 2015.

Just a quick reminder that there are two events this weekend. 

For tomorrow's Japan Block Fair on 6th Avenue between Bleecker Street and W Houston Street, please find the executives at the Table for Two booth. Once again, Shift 1 is from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. and Shift 2 is from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is this Sunday, September 13th from 6 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Central Park West & West 72nd Street. 

Please be sure to sign in and sign out with the executives at both events!

Prefects have been out for a while now, so please fill out the 2015-2016 H.O.P.E. Club Member Application if you would like to join our club again this year. Again, feel free to invite your friends to the club as well!
